Wow! What a week! To say it was a whirlwind is an understatement. Me. Me! Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would be interested in health and fitness. I hate to exercise and I love food! But things have changed over the last 4 months. Let me take you down memory lane.
Four months ago, my husband Jeremy and I began working out. It was on February 9, 2015. We measured and weighed ourselves and began to track our data. We chose to do Beachbody’s P90x program. (We had bought it in 2009 and used it off and on, but this time we were determined to finish the whole 90 days.) Since we both work full time and we have 3 little girls (6, 3, and 1) our only option was to workout before work. Jeremy has to be at work at 6 am, so we had to get up at 3:15 am to workout daily. We started working out 6 days a week and have not stopped!
Fast forward 8 weeks. Jeremy had lost 15 pounds and I had lost none. NONE! Grr… So I decided to get my thyroid checked. I kept on with the workouts and eating whole foods to the best of my knowledge. Jeremy and I researched and researched. Anytime we had a question about what was going on with our bodies, or why something wasn’t working, we Googled and watched YouTube videos. As a result we became much smarter about health and fitness. I soaked everything up like a sponge!
While waiting on my thyroid results, I continued P90x and entered my food in MyFitnessPal (I had been doing this since February.) Well…my results came back normal. Ugh. I was so hoping for an answer to why I was not losing weight.
So around this time, Jeremy and I had been looking at what we were going to do after 90 days. We began reading about the 21 Day Fix. We weren’t ready to order the program, but we found the containers online. We also found some online resources and began using the containers. I also began doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and Kickboxing QuickFix DVDs. Between the two of those changes I FINALLY began to lose weight! So while Jeremy finished out the 90 days of P90x, I did the two cardio based programs mentioned above.
Fast forward 3 weeks. We ordered the Beachbody program 21 Day Fix. At that time a lady at church, who is a Beachbody coach, asked us if we wanted to join her next challenge group. It just happened to work out that Jeremy finished P90x on Saturday and we were beginning The 21 Day Fix on Monday. So we joined the group. I had no idea at that moment that my life was going to change forever.
When I agreed to do the challenge group, I went to my coach’s Facebook page and liked the things that she liked. I thought liking those pages would give me more information on eating right, motivation, science behind fitness, etc. Little did I know, those pages held so much more! Those were pages of Elite Beachbody coaches. I followed those coaches, and then began following the coaches that were tagged in their photos. (They just happened to be on a Paris trip at the time, so they were all together.) I began learning and reading about how their lives had changed, and I began to want the same for me. Over a couple weeks I developed a desire to want to control my own schedule, to control when I work, to control where I work, to have financial freedom, and to be able to pay for my children’s college. But mostly I want to share my story and inspire others to get healthy and fit with me!
So after finishing the 21 day challenge group, I decided to sign up as a coach. I want to empower other women, and men, to change their lives for the better. If I make a little money on the side, then great! If not, I will become one physically fit momma! Because let’s face it! I need this blog and coaching to be accountability for me. I can just as easily fall back into bad habits as the next person. I need YOU to hold me accountable! In addition to taking care of my own body and mind, I will set a great example for my daughters. They will see mom eating healthy and exercising, and hopefully develop great habits for life.
So that’s an overview of my story. As this blog goes on I will elaborate on each section of my journey above because there is a lot more I could say about everything I’ve learned. I look forward to growing and changing right along with you. Let’s change the world by remodeling ourselves through fitness and health!
